4th of July: Are You Ready to Swipe Your Beard?

The 4th of July is almost here and most of us are preparing for food and fun. The holiday is filled with fireworks, family, and your favorite lakeside or swimming pools. Whatever activity you find yourself engaged in, the one thing that is at the top of the list is food. Whether it is barbecue, hot dogs, fajitas, pizza, and/or chips and dips, there’s one thing that us bearded brothers have to consider; swiping our beards to ensure it’s free of food debris.

There’s nothing like taking that bite of your favorite barbecued selection of meat drenched in sauce. However, nothing is more common than getting a drizzle of that sauce oozing down your man mane and dripping onto your shirt. We all know that barbecue sauce can leave a nasty little stain on your favorite Bald, Bearded, & Blessed t-shirt, or you take a bite of that chili cheese hot dog and get chili and cheese smeared in your beard. What if you love nachos loaded with meat, melted cheese, jalapenos, and pico de gallo? What a mess this can leave dangling from your beard.

Whatever your favorite 4th of July snack or dining options are, you have to keep in mind having an adequate supply of paper towels, wet ones, or napkins within reach to swipe your beard clean is important. This is important for a few reasons.

  1. One obvious reason is keeping your nicely groomed beard clean. Why spend time grooming your mane and neglect it while you eat.
  2. Minimize the likelihood of getting stains on your clothes (your favorite Bald, Bearded, & Blessed shirt) from food falling from your beard.
  3. Save you from some embarrassing moment around family and friends like taking a picture or having a conversation with a co-worker or someone you’re trying to impress.

Beard swiping is important but can be taken for granted by the best of us. You can never go wrong with keeping some paper towel or wet ones near to swipe your beard, especially if your beards is thick and stands out. Which would you rather have? Someone starring at your beard for how bold and handsome it looks, or because you have drops of dried up cheese lodged in it? Beard swiping can reduce these types of mishaps. Enjoy your 4th of July and remember to have fun and swipe when necessary.
